15 October 2026
  • Nolby Muñoz, a resident of the Barcelona Baja rural community in Circasia, received the third home delivered by Adopta un Hogar in Colombia and the first of 40 homes planned by the initiative in Quindío.
  • Grupo Argos and Nicky Jam contributed the housing kit, while the National Federation of Coffee Growers and Isagen provided the labor required for its construction, through a collaborative model that brings together resources and capabilities to advance reconstruction efforts.
  • The handover is part of Adopta un Hogar’s commitment to provide 1,000 homes for families affected by the August 10 earthquake in Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda, Caldas, Quindío, and Antioquia.

This Wednesday, Nolby Muñoz received the keys to her new home in Barcelona Baja, a rural community in Circasia, becoming the third family to benefit from Adopta un Hogar in Colombia and the first in Quindío.

Grupo Argos and Nicky Jam contributed the housing kit, while the National Federation of Coffee Growers and Isagen provided the labor needed to make its construction a reality. The handover took place as part of the reconstruction strategy led by the National Government, with the support of the Ministry of Housing and in coordination with Fondo Milagro and local authorities.

“Ms. Nolby, we hope this house becomes a home where you can continue pursuing your dreams, building a future for yourself and your family, and inspiring optimism and hope among all the families affected by the earthquake. We will continue joining forces with the National Government, the Ministry of Housing, Fondo Milagro, and local authorities until we fulfill the commitment we made to 1,000 Colombian families.”

Juan Esteban Calle, President of Grupo Argos

Nolby Muñoz Vargas is 53 years old and has built her life in the rural community of Barcelona Baja in Circasia. In addition to her formal employment, she engages in handicraft activities and grows coffee and plantains, which supplement her livelihood and help maintain her connection to the land.

The August 10 earthquake severely damaged the home where she lived. Since then, she has been staying in a makeshift shelter built with temporary materials on family-owned land. The emergency also affected her brother and sister-in-law, whose home collapsed, forcing them to temporarily rearrange their living conditions.

“Reconstruction is a national undertaking that requires leadership, coordination, and the ability to turn commitments into tangible results. Through the Ministry of Housing and Fondo Milagro, the National Government is coordinating efforts to ensure that public, private, and social sector resources and capabilities effectively reach families in need. The home Nolby is receiving today in Circasia demonstrates what we can achieve when we work toward a shared purpose, because every home we rebuild also means a family that can once again look to the future with confidence and hope.”

José Manuel Restrepo, Vice President of the Republic of Colombia

The handover of the new home aims to provide Nolby with a safe and stable living space where she can continue building her future within the same community. As in the other regions where Adopta un Hogar is operating, the intervention is based on an understanding of the family’s circumstances, the property, and the surrounding environment, ensuring that the housing solution responds to the specific characteristics of the territory.

“The Federation remains committed to supporting coffee-growing families affected by the August 10 earthquake. Our partnership with Grupo Argos demonstrates that when we join forces with the National Government, local authorities, and committed partners, we can accelerate reconstruction efforts and help families make a fresh start. To all coffee growers: you are not alone. Your Federation is here to continue supporting you.”

Germán Bahamón, General Manager of the National Federation of Coffee Growers

Grupo Argos and Nicky Jam’s commitment through Adopta un Hogar includes 500 homes in Chocó, 235 in Valle del Cauca, 100 in Risaralda, 100 in Caldas, 40 in Quindío, and 25 in Antioquia. The handover in Circasia marks the beginning of the initiative’s implementation in Quindío and highlights the collaborative model that Adopta un Hogar is putting into action to fulfill its commitment.

Adopta un Hogar will continue advancing reconstruction efforts across the six prioritized departments, working alongside the National Government, the Ministry of Housing, Fondo Milagro, local authorities, communities, and companies such as Tecnoglass, Distracom, Acoplásticos, ABB, and more than 200 other businesses.
