100 Families in La Playa and Las Flores Receive Safe Drinking Water Filters from Grupo Argos’ Urban Development Business and Its Foundation
14 October 2026- The initiative benefits more than 500 people. Families were prioritized based on their vulnerability and the specific needs of each household, including the presence of older adults, children under five, people with disabilities, and individuals with health conditions requiring special care.
- With the activity held on Wednesday, October 14, Grupo Argos’ Urban Development Business and its Foundation have completed the distribution of 250 water filters to communities in Barranquilla.
Fundación Grupo Argos and Grupo Argos’ Urban Development Business delivered 100 water filters to families in the La Playa and Las Flores communities in Barranquilla, as part of their commitment to improving living conditions and access to safe drinking water in the communities where they operate.
In La Playa, 50 filters were delivered, benefiting 257 people, while another 50 solutions reached 282 residents of Las Flores. These systems will provide families with safe drinking water in their homes, helping prevent risks associated with water quality and improving their health and well-being.
“La Playa and Las Flores are communities with which Grupo Argos has built long-standing relationships. We know these communities well and want to continue contributing to their development through concrete solutions that improve their quality of life. The filters we are delivering eliminate 100% of bacteria in water, reduce illnesses associated with consuming untreated water by nearly 60%, and lower families’ monthly water-related expenses by COP 40,000 to COP 50,000.”
María Camila Villegas Executive Director of Fundación Grupo Argos
Families were selected based on their vulnerability, prioritizing households with people with disabilities, adults over 60, children under five, and individuals with illnesses or health conditions that make access to safe drinking water particularly important.
The filters are made of clay and operate without the need for electricity, pumping connections, additional construction, or chemical additives. Their design allows families to treat water directly in their homes through a simple process, facilitating everyday access to safe drinking water.
This latest delivery builds on the work Grupo Argos and its Foundation have carried out in communities across Barranquilla. Prior to this initiative, 150 filters had already been distributed in Las Flores, La Playa, Puerto Mocho, Villa del Mar-La Cangrejera, and other communities.
