  • The Foundation leads three projects for the protection of water and the restoration of forests in the Claro and Cartama river basins, in Antioquia, and the Saldaña river, in the department of Tolima.
  • During 2022, the Grupo Argos Foundation signed 185 new conservation agreements for the protection of 3,485 hectares. Currently, more than 9,300 hectares benefit from its restoration and sustainable production projects.
  • Among the restoration actions, the planting of more than one million trees of native species of Andean forest, tropical dry forest and mangrove during 2022 also stands out.

With the purpose of contributing to the water security of the territories and contributing to the protection and restoration of strategic water basins in Colombia, during 2022 the Grupo Argos Foundation signed 185 new conservation agreements for the care of 3,485 hectares in the departments of Antioquia and Tolima with investments that exceeded COP 1,432 million. Currently, more than 9,300 hectares in the areas that make up these basins benefit from these conservation projects.

The Grupo Argos Foundation leads projects for the protection of water in the Claro and Cartama river basins, in Antioquia, and the Saldaña river in Tolima. Likewise, through the planting of trees of native species, the Foundation works to preserve ecosystems such as the Andean forest, tropical dry forest, and mangrove swamp. Only last year, 1,003,357 trees were planted, an activity that generated nearly 800 direct and indirect jobs associated with the planting processes.

“We are committed to the protection of water from the mountains to the sea, for this, our intervention methodology is based on the needs of the territories to propose conservation and restoration processes with a positive impact for the communities.”

Comprehensive basin management

The Grupo Argos Foundation positively impacts 9,330 hectares with conservation and sustainable production processes, contributing to the availability, quality and accessibility of water, and the generation of sustainable development in the communities. Likewise, in the prioritized territories, the Foundation carries out flora and fauna monitoring and research processes with local communities, which makes it possible to identify the systemic services present in the area, in addition to the consolidation of sustainable production systems, environmental education programs and the implementation of solutions for access to drinking water for rural communities.
