María Camila Villegas has been appointed as the new executive director of the Grupo Argos Foundation.
3 February 2023- She holds a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, and has a specialist degree in Environmental Conservation and Social Justice and a Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
- With 18 years of experience in the Argos Business Group, she has a proven track record in leading social responsibility initiatives.
- In her previous role as the operating director of the Foundation, she successfully consolidated it as a significant social investment organization in Colombia.
María Camila Villegas has been selected as the new executive director of the Grupo Argos Foundation, a voluntary social investment vehicle of the Grupo Empresarial Argos. She holds a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the Pontifical Bolivarian University, as well as a specialist degree in Environmental Conservation and Social Justice and a Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
María Camila Villegas began her career at Grupo Empresarial Argos in 2005 as a part of Cementos Argos, where she implemented social responsibility strategies across the company’s operations in Colombia and the Caribbean. In 2021, she became the operational director of the Grupo Argos Foundation, where she helped establish it as one of the most prominent social investment organizations in Colombia
The Grupo Argos Foundation was created in 2016 by Grupo Argos, Cementos Argos, Celsia, and Odinsa, to promote their social and environmental initiatives. The foundation has two main focus areas: the conservation of water resources and territorial transformation. Over the past six years, the foundation’s programs have benefited over 95,000 people in Colombia, and have also helped protect more than 9,300 hectares of forest.
