On the Reduction of CO2 Emissions World Day, Grupo Argos reaffirms its commitment to the planet

Within the framework of the World Day for the Reduction of CO2 Emissions, Grupo Argos reaffirms its commitment to the prevention, adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change, through the development of various initiatives.

In terms of reducing direct CO2 emissions, the company set a goal of reducing 20% ​​of tons of CO2, per each million Colombian pesos income, having as base year 2015.

In reference to the sustainable use of resources and the protection of water and biodiversity, we protect more than 11,000 km2 of areas in the Andean bear ecosystem, we compensate 100% of our emissions planting native species and all our subsidiaries care about measure of its water footprint.

Our good practices in environmental, social and economic sustainability are world class references. This is reflected in the inclusion of Grupo Argos, for the sixth consecutive year, in the Dow Jones Global Sustainability Index that evaluates the leading companies in 60 economic sectors. Particularly, in the climate change strategy component, it qualifies us as world leaders in our industry, during the last two years.

Some complementary data

• Grupo Argos and its subsidiaries, Cementos Argos, Celsia and Odinsa, have a system of 42 electric bicycles available to all employees. This system promotes non-motorized and environmentally friendly mobility. Until the end of December 2017, 3,607 loans were made, totaling 324 days. Users traveled more than 17 thousand kilometers on electric bicycles, avoiding the emission of more than 2.7 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere and saving more than 433 hours of travel.

• We set the goal of planting 10 million trees by 2025; We have currently planted more than 2.3 million.

• We work in the conservation of more than 20 river basins and the protection of more than 2 million hectares, in alliance with entities such as National Natural Parks.
