  • In 2023 alone, Grupo Argos Foundation allocated more than COP 17 billion to support five programs aimed at contributing to the conservation and restoration of the country’s strategic ecosystems such as the Andean forest, tropical dry forest, and mangroves.
  • Through ‘Sembrando Futuro’, the Foundation has planted more than five million native species trees in the last three years in the departments of Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca.
  • Added to these efforts are environmental education processes through the program ‘Verde Vivo’, which aim to contribute to the development of a culture of environmental care in rural areas of the country, involving more than 70,000 students and 2,000 teachers.
  • The environmental programs of the Grupo Argos Foundation are carried out in 20 departments and respond to the structuring of climate change strategies and sustainability policies of the businesses that make up the Grupo Empresarial Argos.

On Earth Day, Grupo Argos Foundation announces that it has reached five million trees planted in Colombia and has five environmental programs that have achieved a record figure of more than 15,200 hectares in conservation processes and 16 protected water basins in two departments of the country.

The interventions of the Foundation are based on a comprehensive strategy of Nature-Based Solutions aimed at caring for water from its source in the mountains to its outlet into the sea, considering variables such as biodiversity, climate change, and social and economic impact.

“We continue to add efforts to contribute to the care of strategic ecosystems and the sustainable growth of territories through environmental conservation and territorial development processes in collaboration with national and international partners. These types of initiatives support the sustainability strategies of the business group and its commitment to mitigate the effects of climate change in the country.”

María Camila Villegas Executive Director of the Grupo Argos Foundation

In line with the above, it is worth highlighting the Grupo Argos Foundation’s program, Sembrando Futuro, whose goal of planting one million native species trees annually in six departments of Colombia, allowed it to be selected among more than 200 projects worldwide to develop carbon credit certification processes in collaboration with the international accelerator Terraformation. In a consolidated manner, Sembrando Futuro has planted more than 4.8 million trees that contribute to the conservation of ecosystems such as tropical dry forest, Andean forest, and mangrove.

Similarly, the Foundation carries out an important environmental education program with teachers and students from rural areas of the country that seeks to raise awareness around issues such as the protection of water resources, good environmental practices, and health. To date, more than 70,000 people participate in the training sessions, which are held both in-person and virtually through a free consultation platform.
