Grupo Argos launches Construyendo Colombia, a campaign that showcases how infrastructure transforms the country

16 July 2026

Through projects, data, and everyday stories, the initiative highlights how infrastructure connects regions, creates jobs, boosts competitiveness, and generates opportunities for progress and well-being for millions of Colombians.

  • Grupo Argos and more than 50 partners have mobilized nearly COP 800 billion through the Works for Taxes mechanism to develop 50 projects benefiting more than 600,000 people.
  • The second phase of the Túnel de Oriente involves a private investment of COP 1.8 trillion and generates more than 12,000 direct and indirect jobs.
  • El Dorado Max aims to expand the capacity of Colombia’s main airport to 73 million passengers per year through 104 interventions.
  • Cementos Argos’ Cartagena Plant produces approximately 2.3 million tons of cement and clinker per year and exports 1.6 million tons.

At a time when Colombia needs confidence, investment, collaboration, and the ability to execute, Grupo Argos presents Construyendo Colombia, a campaign that highlights how infrastructure translates into development, employment, competitiveness, and better opportunities for people.

The campaign brings together projects and everyday stories that show how Grupo Empresarial Argos continues helping build the country through tangible actions, investment, and infrastructure that connects regions, transforms communities, and creates progress and well-being for millions of Colombians.

Construyendo Colombia is built on a conviction: developing infrastructure is not only about building large-scale projects. It also means bringing communities closer together, facilitating access to essential services, strengthening regional productivity, and creating the conditions for people to develop their talents and build a better future.

Through its companies and by working together with the public sector, communities, and other business stakeholders, Grupo Argos participates in initiatives that demonstrate Colombia’s ability to execute large-scale projects and generate sustainable transformation.

Infrastructure that reaches communities

One of the examples highlighted by the campaign is the work carried out through the Works for Taxes mechanism, which allows companies to allocate part of their tax obligations to projects that address priority community needs.

Together with more than 50 partners, Grupo Argos has helped mobilize nearly COP 800 billion to execute 50 projects that already benefit more than 600,000 people, delivering roads, schools, drinking water, and basic sanitation solutions to areas that have historically faced significant social gaps.

These projects are developed in coordination with communities, recognizing their needs and priorities and combining the technical and execution capabilities of companies with the knowledge and participation of those who live in the territories.

Energy for a more competitive and sustainable economy

The campaign also showcases Celsia’s work to promote a more reliable, diversified, and sustainable energy matrix.

Currently, more than 25% of its generation comes from renewable sources, such as solar and wind energy, complemented by thermal backup and energy solutions that help ensure system reliability and strengthen the competitiveness of households, businesses, and regions.

In this way, Celsia actively contributes to Colombia’s energy transition by combining sustainability, energy security, and the capacity to respond to the country’s growth needs.

Major infrastructure projects that connect regions

In road infrastructure, Construyendo Colombia highlights projects such as the second phase of the Túnel de Oriente, a major infrastructure project that improves connectivity between the Aburrá Valley and eastern Antioquia.

The project involves an investment of COP 1.8 trillion, financed entirely by the private sector, and generates more than 12,000 direct and indirect jobs.

In addition to improving mobility, reducing travel times, and strengthening regional connectivity, this initiative demonstrates that Colombia can successfully execute major infrastructure projects when there is long-term vision, technical expertise, and clear and stable rules.

An airport prepared for the country’s growth

The campaign also features El Dorado Max, a project aimed at expanding and modernizing Colombia’s busiest airport to accommodate growing air travel demand over the coming decades.

The initiative includes 104 interventions, an estimated investment of COP 12 trillion, and the goal of increasing the airport’s capacity to 73 million passengers per year, nearly twice its current traffic.

The project will strengthen domestic and international connectivity, improve the passenger experience, and consolidate El Dorado Airport as one of Latin America’s leading logistics and air transportation hubs.

Productive capacity connecting Colombia with the world

Construyendo Colombia also recognizes the contribution of strategic industrial assets such as Cementos Argos’ Cartagena Plant, one of the most modern and efficient facilities in the region.

The plant produces approximately 2.3 million tons of cement and clinker per year, of which around 1.6 million tons are exported to Central America, the Caribbean, and the United States.

Its operations contribute to employment, competitiveness, foreign currency generation, and Colombia’s productive capacity, while strengthening the country’s presence in international markets and supporting infrastructure development both within Colombia and abroad.

A collective effort

Through this campaign, Grupo Argos seeks to recognize that behind every road, airport, plant, energy project, school, or drinking water solution are thousands of people who make the country’s development possible.

Construyendo Colombia is an invitation to renew confidence in our collective ability to transform regions through investment, collaboration, and responsible execution.

Because Colombia is built when we connect regions, create jobs, mobilize investment, and turn infrastructure into well-being and opportunities for people.

At Grupo Argos, we continue #ConstruyendoColombia.
