Grupo Argos present in Carrera Verde 2019

At the Universidad Pontificia Javeriana, in Bogotá, the launch of the V version of the Carrera Verde was carried out in the framework of the forum “The importance of joint work for the environmental development of the country. All united by forests, changing the future of the country's forests. ” The activity, which has been ratified as the most important athletic and recreational competition in the country for the conservation and restoration of forests, invites Colombians to run for this cause on February 17th in Bogotá. The event is led by the Natura Foundation and supported by Grupo Argos.

The forum was attended by the director of conservation of Fundación Grupo Argos, Maria Camila Villegas; as well as Elsa Matilde Escobar, Executive Director of the Fundación Natura; Ana Alejandra Jiménez, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of Banco de Bogotá; Natalia Zuleta , director of Marketing and Innovation of Gimnasio Fontana and Fabiola Suárez, director of Corporación Ambiental Empresarial.

“Supporting initiatives such as Carrera Verde, confirms the commitment we have as a Business Group with the care of biodiversity. Events like these become a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of our forests and work together to achieve great results. From Grupo Argos we constantly seek to lead and support strong actions to achieve environmental conservation, because we are aware of the global and country environmental challenges we want to contribute to: such as climate change, deforestation and the protection of water resources, ”said Maria Camila Villegas, Director of Conservation of Fundación Grupo Argos.

During the day, a symbolic sowing was also carried out, in which the runners of the different versions of the competition participated. Likewise, a yoga and stretching practice was carried out as a preparation activity for the race that will take place in the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park.

 

About the race

· This is the first race certified with the ‘Gold Green Race’ standard, by the Council for Responsible Sport, in Latin America.

· For this year the goal is to plant 18,000 trees of native species, three for each participant.

· The race has three modalities: competitive 10K, individual recreational 3K and family recreational 3K.
