With COP 40 trillion in building materials and infrastructure projects, Grupo Argos continues to advance its strategic transformation
5 June 2025- In recent years, the organization has made significant progress in focusing its investment portfolio on building materials and infrastructure, with current investments totaling COP 20 trillion and a project pipeline exceeding COP 40 trillion.
- In the building materials sector, Cementos Argos is the market leader in Colombia, with an installed capacity of over 16.5 million tons of cement and a solid presence in 16 countries across the Americas.
- In the energy sector, Celsia is leading Colombia’s energy transition, with more than 25% of its energy matrix coming from renewable sources. Its goal by 2027 is to reach 1,000 MW of installed solar generation capacity.
- In roads and airports, Odinsa is preparing to launch major projects such as the expansion of El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá and the second phase of the Túnel de Oriente in Medellín, among others, which together represent investments of more than COP 20 trillion.
Thanks to a focused portfolio with strong growth fundamentals and backed by the leadership of its businesses, Grupo Argos continues to establish itself as a unique investment alternative in the Colombian market. Over the past few years, the company has led a strategy centered on streamlining and deepening its presence in its strategic businesses: building materials with Cementos Argos, electricity with Celsia, infrastructure with Odinsa, and urban development. With disciplined financial management, reduced debt, and a geographic footprint that extends across 18 countries in the Americas, the organization is preparing to deploy a new phase in its history, supported by a project pipeline exceeding COP 40 trillion, including highlights such as:
Building Materials: Following the divestment of Summit Materials, Cementos Argos now holds an unprecedented opportunity thanks to proceeds of nearly COP 12 trillion in cash, significantly strengthening its financial flexibility and capacity for strategic growth.
Energy: Celsia will continue expanding its presence in non-conventional renewable energy, with more than 1,000 MW of solar capacity under development in Colombia and over 200 MW of wind projects in Peru. It is also advancing new wind projects in Colombia, such as the Carreto Wind Farm in Atlántico, reaffirming its commitment to the energy transition.
Road and Airport Infrastructure: Odinsa continues to structure and develop a significant portfolio of infrastructure projects in Colombia, including the expansion of El Dorado Airport (El Dorado Max), the New Cartagena Airport, the Central Connection project in the Coffee Region, and the Perimetral de la Sabana in Cundinamarca. If awarded, these initiatives could represent investments of over COP 20 trillion in the country.
Grupo Argos’ strategic focus on infrastructure, supported by capabilities developed throughout its history, positions the company to continue deepening and expanding its role in the structuring, operation, and management of regional infrastructure platforms. The outlook for each of its businesses is as follows:
- Cementos Argos, in Colombia, maintains its market leadership as the supplier for 80% of the country’s major infrastructure projects, with a market share of over 30% and material dispatch volumes exceeding 5.3 million tons. The company has an installed capacity of 16.5 million tons of cement and 10 million cubic meters of concrete per year, with operations in Colombia, the Caribbean, and Central America.
- Celsia, a leader in renewable energy in Colombia and Central America, operates 19 solar plants, 19 hydroelectric plants, and two thermal power plants, with a total installed capacity of 1,127 MW. It serves more than 1.3 million customers through its transmission, distribution, and energy commercialization businesses in Valle del Cauca and Tolima.
- Odinsa manages road and airport assets in partnership with Macquarie Asset Management. Among its most prominent assets is El Dorado Airport, which handles more than 70% of Colombia’s air traffic and has become the main connection hub in Latin America. In total, Odinsa’s airport concessions handle more than 50 million passengers, while its road concessions manage traffic volumes exceeding 39 million vehicles annually.
