More than 13,600 people benefited from the territorial transformation initiative Vamos Puerto Colombia.
19 June 2025- The initiative mobilized nearly 160 volunteers, including employees from Grupo Empresarial Argos and volunteers from organizations such as SURA, Indeleble Social, Coremar, PwC, Promigas, Bayer, Pintuco, Bancolombia, PAVCO, COFCA, PROCAPS S.A., Homecenter – Sodimac, Postobón, Triple A, the Government of Atlántico, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, the Municipal Government of Puerto Colombia, the National Army, and the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization.
- Activities during the event included mangrove planting, beach cleanups, health brigades, space beautification, installation of the “La Cangrejera” playground, financial literacy workshops, and more.
- This initiative is part of the broader ecological restoration and community engagement plan underway around the Mallorquín Marsh, one of the Caribbean region’s most strategic ecosystems.
As part of its commitment to the sustainable transformation of territories, the Grupo Argos Foundation, in collaboration with the ANDI Foundation, carried out the Vamos Puerto Colombia volunteer initiative, held from Thursday, June 12 to Saturday, June 14. The event brought together 160 volunteers, including employees from Grupo Empresarial Argos and volunteers from organizations such as SURA, Indeleble Social, Coremar, PwC, Promigas, Bayer, Pintuco, Bancolombia, PAVCO, COFCA, PROCAPS S.A., Homecenter – Sodimac, Postobón, Triple A, the Government of Atlántico, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, the Municipal Government of Puerto Colombia, the National Army, and the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization. The initiative had a positive impact on more than 13,600 people.
During the event, 2,000 red mangrove seedlings were planted as part of the ecosystem restoration process. Additionally, 154 residents from the La Cangrejera community received medical care through health brigades, 90 people participated in personal finance workshops, and 4,000 kilograms of glass, 35 kilograms of paper, and 60 kilograms of plastic were sorted for recycling.

As a symbolic closing, the community expressed its commitment to sustaining the transformations achieved during the initiative by embracing the knowledge gained and applying it to their family and community dynamics.
Vamos Puerto Colombia is part of a broader effort by Grupo Empresarial Argos in the region, which integrates territorial transformation through investments in infrastructure, ecological restoration, and the strengthening of local capacities. As part of this effort, the company has implemented a robust environmental plan that includes the installation of community nurseries, the establishment of 30 water quality monitoring points in the Mallorquín Marsh, and the restoration and conservation of mangrove ecosystems—planting more than 150,000 seedlings in the Atlántico department and over one million across the Colombian Caribbean.
