This Wednesday, November 18, Grupo Argos’ President, Jorge Mario Velásquez, was recognized by Forbes Colombia as one of the 2025 CEOs of the Year, in the latest edition of the awards that honor business leaders who have delivered meaningful transformations and contributions to the country’s economic development.

Forbes highlighted his track record at Grupo Argos, where he has driven value maximization and selective, profitable growth—unlocking value for the Company’s more than 40,000 shareholders by strengthening business efficiency and profitability, monetizing Cementos Argos’ U.S. footprint, positioning Celsia as one of the leaders in the energy transition in Colombia and the region, and sharpening Odinsa’s portfolio focus on roads, airports, and water.

This recognition adds to other recent milestones in his career. In the 2025 Merco Leaders ranking, Jorge Mario Velásquez ranked among the top five most admired business leaders in the country. He was also awarded the José Gutiérrez Gómez Order of Business Merit by ANDI (2025), named one of Bloomberg Línea’s 500 most influential people in Latin America (2024), and recognized as Colombia’s best CEO according to Computrabajo’s Best Workplaces ranking.

About Jorge Mario Velásquez

He is a Civil Engineer from the Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia, with a specialization in the cement industry in England and executive education from Kellogg, Stanford, and Universidad de los Andes. He began his career within the business group in 1983 as an intern at the Medellín concrete plant, marking the start of a more than four-decade career in service of the organization. Since then, he has held several strategic leadership roles, including President of Cementos Argos, before assuming the presidency of Grupo Argos in 2016. In that role, he has led the Company’s transformation, international expansion, and consolidation across the construction materials, energy, concessions, and real estate income businesses.

In accordance with the Corporate Governance Code and following more than 42 years of service, Jorge Mario Velásquez announced his retirement effective March 31, 2026, upon reaching retirement age, leaving a legacy of purpose-driven leadership, integrity, and commitment to the country’s sustainable development.
