Grupo Argos pays tribute to Medellín on its 350th anniversary with urban art and community infrastructure
12 November 2025- The company will carry out urban art interventions in Guayabal, Manrique, and San Cristóbal (La Loma), in partnership with renowned local artists.
- The tribute will include an event aimed at fostering dialogue and connection between community leaders, businesspeople, the public sector, and representatives from the arts and culture.
- These activities add to the social impact initiatives that Grupo Argos has led in Medellín through the Creamos Valor Social program, focused on strengthening communities, employment, and inclusion.
As part of Medellín’s 350th anniversary, Grupo Argos is presenting a comprehensive initiative to pay tribute to the city. The initiative combines artistic interventions, citizen dialogue, and community infrastructure, and seeks to celebrate the collaborative spirit that has historically driven progress in the capital of Antioquia.
The tribute includes:
- Urban art: Three emblematic murals will be created in the neighborhoods of Guayabal, Manrique, and San Cristóbal (La Loma), in collaboration with FATE, SETA, and EYES, prominent figures in the local urban art scene. These works will be the starting point for a series of community activations; one of the pieces will travel throughout the city, featured on 10 of Cementos Argos’ iconic mixer trucks.
- City event: This will take place on November 20 at the ECO warehouse, located in Barrio Colombia, under the theme “the city, the power of dreams, leadership, communities, and community infrastructure.” Designed as a museographic experience, the event aims to foster dialogue and connection among different social actors, neighborhood leaders, cultural managers, business leaders, and representatives from the public sector, to reflect on the role of collaboration in Medellín’s transformation, through three conversations with leaders from Grupo Empresarial Argos and community leaders. Finally, during the event, the piece Puerta de las oportunidades (Gateway of Opportunities) will be presented, which will be installed in some of the territories where Grupo Empresarial Argos has been working.
- Urban infrastructure: Together with local communities, Grupo Argos will carry out two strategic interventions: (i) in Manrique, the Talita Cumi Theater will be transformed, in partnership with Minuto de Dios; (ii) in San Cristóbal, the acoustic shell of the community hall in the area will be renovated, in collaboration with the Secretariat of Citizen Participation.
“Celebrating Medellín’s 350th anniversary means recognizing the transformative power of a city that knows how to harness collective intelligence and work toward a common purpose. With this tribute, we reaffirm our commitment to continue contributing to its development not only through our businesses, but by connecting infrastructure, art, and collaboration as drivers of a more human and sustainable Medellín.”
María Camila Villegas
Executive Director, Grupo Argos Foundation
This tribute builds on the programs that Grupo Argos has carried out over the past five years together with communities in the city to promote social and economic development through the Creamos Valor Social program, which has driven:
- Women’s entrepreneurship: Together with a group of partners, Grupo Argos has strengthened more than 673 businesses led by women entrepreneurs in the city.
- Employment: Through the Business Alliance for Employment, it has connected more than 9,000 young people and women with job opportunities.
- Community strengthening: The company has supported the consolidation of 74 collectives and social organizations in Medellín through mentoring and advisory processes that have connected them with companies and institutional opportunities.
