Grupo Argos and Universidad EIA award scholarships to journalists to strengthen economic journalism in Colombia
10 February 2025- The scholarships will give information professionals access to one of the programs developed with Universidad EIA, focused on understanding the financial system and its impact on society, as well as emerging trends in the digital economy.
- Over the past five years, Grupo Argos has marked Journalists’ Day by awarding more than 120 scholarships to media professionals through academic programs with institutions such as the Universidad de Antioquia and Universidad del Rosario, as well as digital education partners like Mis Propias Finanzas.
With the aim of strengthening their skills in analyzing and communicating economic and financial topics, Grupo Argos and Universidad EIA awarded 25 scholarships to journalists from the country’s main cities. Selected participants will have access to the virtual course “Telling the economy: applied finance for high-impact journalism,” where they will receive specialized training in interpreting economic data and developing rigorous, accessible financial narratives.
“We believe in the importance of rigorous, evidence-based economic journalism—one that can translate the language of finance into information that is accessible to society. This partnership with Universidad EIA is an opportunity to strengthen journalists’ role in building an informed public debate about the country’s economy.”
Juan Esteban Mejía
Manager of Corporate Affairs and Office of the President
Grupo Argos
This program is aimed at journalists and communicators and seeks to provide practical tools to further strengthen economic journalism in Colombia. Through a precise and in-depth approach, it enables rigorous analysis of financial information, helping participants better understand the phenomena that influence both citizens’ daily lives and business decision-making in the country.
The course combines real-case analysis with hands-on workshops and mentoring delivered by experts in financial journalism. Its main thematic areas include financial statements and capital markets analysis; coverage of the financial system and its impact on society; the use of digital tools for data journalism and economic visualization; and emerging trends in the digital economy.
