Construction begins on two infrastructure projects that will connect the municipality of Dabeiba through the Works for Taxes mechanism

10 September 2025
  • The first project involves more than four kilometers of roadway, with execution expected to be completed within 12 months. The investment amounts to more than COP 21,000 million, contributed by Cementos Argos, Grupo Bios, Fiduciaria Bancolombia, Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional, and Microplast.
  • The second project includes the construction of the Cruces Bridge, a 22-meter-long structure over the Las Cruces stream, made possible through an investment of more than COP 5,600 million by Bancolombia and Celsia.
  • This new infrastructure will complement the Dabeiba – Camparrusia section delivered at the beginning of July, consisting of more than four kilometers of roadway.

With a historic investment of nearly COP 27,000 million (equivalent to more than five times the municipality’s investment budget), construction has begun on two major road infrastructure projects in Dabeiba, Antioquia, under the Works for Taxes mechanism. This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of seven companies committed to the country’s development, which have joined efforts to strengthen road infrastructure in western Antioquia, improve the quality of life of more than 23,000 residents, and boost the region’s productive projects.

Two Projects, One Purpose: Connecting to Transform

Section 1: involves the intervention of more than 4 kilometers of roadway. Its execution, with an estimated timeline of 12 months, is made possible thanks to the contributions of Grupo Bios, Fiduciaria Bancolombia, Cementos Argos with Logitrans and Zona Franca Argos, Microplast, and Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional, which allocated resources from their income tax amounting to more than COP 21,337 million to make this project a reality.

Cruces Bridge: is being built over the Las Cruces stream, with a length of 22 linear meters. This project, led by Celsia and Bancolombia, represents an investment of more than COP 5,637 million and has an execution timeline of 9 months. It includes interventions that will ensure its functionality and sustainability.

Together, these projects will reduce travel time by one-third between Dabeiba and Camparrusia, in the heart of western Antioquia. In addition, the generation of more than 200 direct and indirect jobs is expected, thereby boosting the local economy and productive projects.

These works complement Section 2 of the Dabeiba – Camparrusia road, delivered last July, which already includes more than 4 kilometers of paved and operational roadway, with an investment of nearly COP 18,000 million contributed by nine companies.

“In Dabeiba, we are carrying out a comprehensive intervention that we know will bring sustainable development and boost the municipality’s competitiveness with two projects now starting and one already delivered. In addition to improving the quality of life of more than 23,000 people, this demonstrates that the Works for Taxes mechanism is an effective vehicle to bring infrastructure where it is most needed.”

These projects are significantly improving the local economy and the quality of life of its residents by reducing travel times and enhancing road safety, setting a positive precedent for the continuity of future projects in the region.
