Within the framework of World Water Day, which is celebrated on March 22nd, the Fundación Grupo Argos reiterates its commitment to the care of this important natural resource, which is reflected in its different programs and in its integrated vision model of watersheds .
As an opportunity to become aware of the responsibility of conserving water and achieving the participation of more than 40,000 people, the Argos Group and its Foundation will celebrate this day with a “marathon for water” that will have simultaneous activities in 93 educational institutions in Boyacá , Antioquia, Santander, Valle del Cauca, Cauca, Córdoba, Bolívar, Atlántico and Sucre.
In addition to these celebrations, which will include from conversations with experts to reforestation of basins and colorful parades, with the volunteering of the Business Group, the cleaning of the El Ahorcado ravine, in the Palos Verdes sector of Manrique, in Medellín (with the support of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley); and Caño Matute, in the Olaya neighborhood of Cartagena, with the participation of allies such as Fundación Mamonal, Fundación Social, Institución Educativa Madre Gabriela and Establecimiento Público Ambiental (EPA).
“Water protection has always been a priority for Grupo Argos and the Foundation, so World Water Day helps us become aware of the importance of taking care of this resource to conserve a living planet. Therefore, it becomes a fundamental axis of our conservation and education programs, with which we seek to work in its care, understanding that it is around the water where the social, economic and environmental dynamics of the territories are integrated and we will continue to bet on that ”, Said Ana Mercedes Villegas, executive director of the Fundación Grupo Argos.
With programs such as Conservamos la Vida and Huella Viva with which we protect forests and water sources; Verde Vivo, which impacts more than 60,000 students and creates environmental culture; and with the active participation in water funds and alliances for conservation in both Medellín and Cartagena and Montes de María, the Grupo Argos Foundation develops strategies for the protection and improvement of water and ecosystem services, based on their availability and access to generate quality of life in the communities.
