Cementos Argos and Celsia, Grupo Argos companies, outstanding in Colombia for their social investment

  •  The cement and energy companies of Grupo Empresarial Argos were included in the Private Social Investment Index (IISP), an independent study carried out by Jaime Arteaga and Associates, in alliance with Sustainable Week and with the support of the United States Agency. for Development (USAID).
  • In 2019 Grupo Argos invested more than COP 18,000 million, Cementos Argos COP 11,600 million and Celsia close to COP 25,000 million in the development of social programs in Colombia.
  • Cementos Argos and Celsia ranked fourth and fifth in the Index, respectively, among the 102 companies evaluated this year.

 

Cementos Argos and Celsia, companies of Grupo Argos, stood out in the group of 102 companies that lead the Private Social Investment Index (IISP) in Colombia, an independent study that evaluates the best practices of social investment and that is developed by Jaime Arteaga and Associates, in alliance with Sustainable Week and with the support of the United States Agency for Development.


In total, Grupo Empresarial Argos allocated more than COP 44,000 million to social projects in 2019, of which COP 18,100 million is equivalent to the voluntary execution of Fundación Grupo Argos in water conservation and territorial transformation projects that benefited more than 68,000 people in 14 departments of Colombia.


For its part, the management of Cementos Argos amounted to COP 18,598 million in projects related to quality and educational and community infrastructure, to social and housing strengthening, benefiting nearly 500,000 people in Colombia, the United States, Central America and the Caribbean.


Celsia invested COP 25,708 million in projects related to access to energy, quality of life, community development and promotion of education, benefiting nearly 260,000 people in Colombia and Central America.


Between March and June 2020, the period of the public health situation generated by COVID -19, the Argos Business Group has allocated more than COP 18.700 million in Colombia to accompany the most vulnerable populations to face the emergency.
