The new Carrera 65 road – Via al Lago will be open to the public in July

Barranquilla. The new 65th road - Via al Lago will open for all vehicles in July. The project, which is being developed between Grupo Argos and the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla, reports a consolidated progress of more than 95% and it will improve traffic in the northern part of the city.
It will be a two-lane road with wide and safe sidewalks, a two-way bike path, LED lighting and trees of different species such as San Joaquin and Acacias. This is in line with the Forestry Manual that Grupo Argos produced for the city.
The organization has invested more than 16 billion pesos in the new road, which is located in one of the areas with the greatest potential for urban development in the city. Grupo Argos decided to move forward with this road project, ahead of the defined times for the urban development of the area, in aims of improving traffic connectivity in the sector.
"The new Carrera 65 - Vía al Lago is an example of Grupo Argos' commitment to sustainable urban development in Barranquilla, a very important city in our 85-year history. Through this road infrastructure project, we provide a solution to current mobility challenges, "said Camilo Abello, Senior Sustainability Director for Grupo Argos.
Some technical data about the project:
• Length: 1.8 kilometers on a double lane road
• 7-meter walking paths
• 3.5-meter lanes per roadway
• 5.5-meter sidewalks and 5-meter separator
• Two large roundabouts to regulate vehicle flow
• A 2.20 m wide two-way bike path
• Trees on the separators and sidewalks with San Joaquin and Acacias trees, which will be planted in partnership with Barranquilla Siembra
