The Grupo Argos Foundation, which Argos, Celsia and Odinsa is part of as subsidiary companies of the Grupo Argos Business Group, is granting 50 new scholarships in the provinces of Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Bolivar, Boyaca, Cundinamarca and Sucre. This due to the fact that Grupo Argos is convinced that education is the fundamental pillar for the development of regions to generate multiple opportunities and to provide fundamental tools for the progress of the communities.
The objective of Grupo Argos, Argos, Celsia and Odinsa’s scholarship program is to make the dreams of young leaders come true in the areas of influence of these companies. The purpose is to offer them more and better development opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities, and to help boost regional development.
"This is the fifth group of scholars. The program was born at Argos and implemented by the Grupo Argos Foundation as a great initiative. We are convinced that education provides each human being with knowledge, skills, attitudes and the necessary values to forge a sustainable future. And that is why, by contributing to education, we are building the basis for a better society, "said Ana Mercedes Villegas, new director of the Grupo Argos Foundation.
A total of 50 scholarships will be awarded this year and in the five years of the program 199 have been granted to young people from the different provinces of the country.
The retention rate is 94%, which is much higher than other programs that offer access to higher education. The rigorous support model has been very successful in terms of permanency. A company employee, a former grantee and a pedagogical advisor make up the advisory triad that receives each new member of the program.
